Daybreak-Scheresky Mill
has farmed without the use of pesticides, herbicides, man made fertilizers
or anything synthetic since 1987. We farm this way for the principle
of it, realizing that all the chemicals were taking us no where, but
to poor soil health and and putting unhealthy food into the food chain.
In 1996 Daybreak-Scheresky Mill received our first organic certification.
We are not large farmers by todays standard but we try to capitalize
on what we have rather than go larger and work on volume.
At Daybreak-Scheresky
Mill we have two sets of cleaning equipment both capable of cleaning
to high organic standards. The one set does pretty much all custom work
and the other is for our own cleaning and bagging of product we raise.
All of our product goes across several machines to be sure that the
grains are totally cleaned with no foreign material left.
In 2003 Daybreak-Scheresky
Mill acquired the business that Alvin Scheresky had established, having
himself farmed organically since 1964. His knowledge in the organic
field is very extensive, as he has a lot of knowledge on soil health,
grains, processed grains, qualities of grains etc. His product line
is known nation wide and his integrity and quality is widely known and
second to none. A very fine product line.
Our goal is to maintain
the integrity and quality as Alvin is still very much interested in
farming, has a very large garden, and still is on site here with just
a phone call or he sometimes just drops in. We appreciate his knowledge
and expertise and he is still very much a part of the business he had
set up. We hope to glean as much as possible in the time ahead from
him and again to keep the integrity and quality that is so important
before it hits your table.
